My trip home

March 7th, 2007 -- Posted in Kids, Travel | No Comments »

Well I am on my way back home again, and along with the usual sadness that come with leaving Laila to head back to the normal grind of work and family, the ride home has not been that great.

This morning Laila and I got up and ran down to the mall to grab a few things and then we came back home so I could get packed up and ready to leave. We called our usual driver but his van is still in the shop so we called the same guy that picked me up this time when I arrived. Laila was not too happy about this driver since he was late the last time, but since he assured us he would be there to get me at six we felt ok.

We ordered pizza for dinner since we really didn’t want to make a big mess and we wanted to spend out last few hours together, but then the kids has some school friends show up and her one son Denis was having a fight with his girlfriend. Since he lost his cell phone the other night she was calling Laila’s and text messaging every few minutes. Laila actually called this little b*”"ch and told her to knock it off and use the land line because it was draining her cell phone battery, but the girl was clueless. I would get a restraining order if she were here, but they don’t have such a thing there.

We ate our pizza, and at 6 PM went to wait for our ride to the airport. Laila started getting worried when the guy was five minutes late, more worried when he was 10 minutes late and he called saying he was there at 15 minutes late. Finally about 20 minutes after the guy was supposed to pick us up he showed up on a motorcycle to tell Laila his driver would be there any second. He drove off a few minutes later and Laila finally had enough and hailed a cab.

Traffic was terrible, Christine was still calling every couple of minutes to where Laila finally turned the phone off. We got to the airport and I still had plenty of time even though Laila thought I was cutting it a little close. I had no problems getting through security and the ticket counter. Laila had given me some extra pesos to get through customs as the Philippines has an exit fee. It used t be 550 pesos but was 750 this time, so I am glad she gave me a few extra, even though they do accept dollars.

When I got to immigration I was supposed to fill out some form and they were out so I had to run back to the ticket counter and grab one. After that I breezed through immigration and the security checkpoint though I did get behind some guy that had to leave about half of his hand carried baggage behind because they were items on the banned list. Some people are just so uniformed about things. I then got to the secure area of the terminal and waited to call Laila.

I then waited until I was sure she was home and then called her about ten minutes after she arrived and we talked until it was time start boarding the plane. I whizzed through the final checkpoint and then we got on the plane. I had my usual window seat and the plane was another of the every seat taken flights so I didn’t get a row to lie down in. We were supposed to take off at 10PM and we actually left the gate on time. We taxied out to the runway and then stopped. The pilot then came on with an announcement that we had to return to the gate since something was wrong with the plane. He said he would keep up informed, but instead we sat at the gate for 2 ½ hours and then we got the announcement that they had replaced a hydraulic pump and we would be leaving soon.

We finally did leave and then I was now worried about arrival time in Los Angeles as I have to catch a flight at 9:35PM. The last time I was on a flight that left Manila late they adjusted the flight time and we made it on time, by flying a slightly different route and making up the time. I was hoping they would do it this time, but now that we are up and they are showing the arrival time it looks like we will be landing in Los Angeles a little after 8:30 PM and that does not look so good for me to make my connection. I have to get off the plane, get my bag, go through customs and immigration, then recheck my bag, go to another terminal and check in, get a boarding pass, go through security, call Judy to tell her when I will actually get to San Diego, and frankly I do not think I am going to make it in time, but I will give it my best shot.

We did receive their deepest apologies so that makes me feel really special. Anyway, I was able to sleep through about half the flight. Something happened to both Laila and I on this trip. Neither of us usually sleeps very much, but this time we slept 6 to 8 hours each day. Also I never sleep on planes well, but this time I slept for over six hours. I don’t know what happened but it a good trend for the future and good for our health.

Well needless to say, if this entry continues it will because I missed my flight to San Diego and am trying to get home somehow, so I am killing time at LAX. If this gets posted right away, then I somehow made it to San Diego on time and posted this on the blog before going to bed since I have to work in the morning.

Anyway, there is the return flight saga with all its drama and all. I hope it doesn’t get much more dramatic, I just want to get home. Ok well I did manage to finally get home last night but not after some really frustrating things happened. First a couple of things that bothered me on the plane. Why is it that none of the stewards or stewardesses on a plane knows how to run a VCR or keep with the movie schedule that is printed in their airline magazine? This has happened on several different airlines so I am not just getting down on Philippine Airways on this one. When the pilot or copilot make an announcement the movie cuts out and when they are done making the announcement you have missed the scenes that were played during the announcement. Also the movies are not shown in the sequence listed and some are not shown at all. Anyway it is just a little something that bothers me when I am on a long trip.

Also the guy that sat next to me got in trouble. All you hear in the airport prior to boarding and when they are reading the safety stuff is to not use your cell phone. The whole time the plane was being repaired this guy was text messaging and he continued as the plane took off. As we were getting ready to land he broke it out again but got caught by the stewardess and she really lit into him. I was glad to see that. I really don’t know why people insist on using these items all the time when directed not to. I think they should impose a steep fine and enforce it on airlines. I am sure they could use the extra income that would be generated.

Anyway we landed at LAX two hours late and that gave me 65 minutes to get to American Airlines to get my flight to San Diego. But then trying to get off the plane was impossible as they had to de-plane the first class and business class folks first. They kept announcing for folks to allow people with connecting flights leave first but that didn’t happen or maybe everyone on the plane had connecting flights. So he plane landed at 8:30 PM and my American Airlines flight was scheduled to leave at 9:35 PM. I was watching my watch carefully and was able to get off the plane at 8:45 PM. As soon as I got to the ramps leading to immigration I started running, hoping to somehow make my flight. I got down the stairs to where immigration was supposed to be and to my amazement we were in a different terminal.

Since the plane was late they took us to an international overflow terminal where we would have to be bussed to the main terminal and then what was worse is that they started taking the wheel chair folks first. I managed to get on a bus and took the ride to the main terminal, but then got stuck behind the wheel chairs and other old folks which slowed me down. I got to immigration at 8:55 PM and got through the line by 9:05 PM. I started losing hope but I was hopeful that I could get my bag and get over to the other terminal, though it would be cutting it very close.

I got to the baggage carousel and there was nothing there but a wall of people and no bags. They started coming down the ramp at about 9:10 PM but it seemed like hours. First came all the pilots and flight crew stuff and then here came mine, really fast for a change. It was 9:15 and all I had to do was get through customs and turn over my bag to the airport folks and I just might make it. It would be really close though. I ran down to customs and the guy stamped my form and I was on my way out, and then the unbelievable happened. One of the lady customs agents called me over for a bag search. Now there was no way in hell I was going to make my flight. She was very professional and courteous, asked me many questions about my trip, family, and we talked about how Laila and I met and all while she was searching. I still had some coffee grounds in the one bag from my coffee disaster and she got a laugh out of that. After going through my bags and finding nothing she then tried to search my laptop for pornography but the battery was dead. Besides I don’t even use this on the internet except for sending webcam to Laila. I joked that she wouldn’t find anything on the laptop but I couldn’t guarantee anything about my home PC since David uses it too!

I asked her if she wanted me to plug it in, but she said no problem, and let me pass. As I walked out of hat section it was 9:30 PM so I knew I missed my San Diego flight since I still had to get to another terminal and all. They didn’t have the folks to turn the luggage over to in the international terminal so I just took the bag and went to the American Terminal. I still walked really fast and when I got in line the fellow in front of me asked me if I was late for a flight. I told him yes, but that it was too late as he offered to let me go ahead of him.

I went up to the counter and told the lady there what happened and she said she would get me on the standby list for the 10:30 PM Flight so I hurried up the stairs to the security checkpoint since the flight was going to board at 10 pm according to the ticket she gave me.

I went upstairs to the security point and it was now 9:40 so I was getting worried again. The line was backed up a bit and though the lady checking boarding passes and ID instructed people to have their stuff out many people were not cooperating and so that line was moving slow. I got through there and then over to the x-ray machine. The two guys in front of me were moving in slow motion and then two morons struck at the same time. One idiot didn’t have his boarding pass and swore that he ran it through the x-ray machine. They searched and searched but never did find it so they led him away, but it held up the line. The some other moron had placed a bunch of coins in a file folder which spilled all over the floor and machine while exiting the x-ray machine. Since he was not able to pick up the coins for some security reason the security guy picked them up for him. They would have had a second security guy help but he couldn’t find any rubber gloves so only the one guy could pick them up. I was beginning to think I would miss this flight too, but that this one would have been due to the stupidity of fellow passengers.

Finally they got the second moron through and then the guy in front of me kept setting off the metal detector. Finally he got all the change out of his pocket, took off his belt and watch and he made it through. I made it right through and by now it was 9:55 PM and my boarding pass said the plane was going to board at 10 PM. I quickly ran to a phone and called the house and told David that I would be getting home at 11:30 instead of 10:30 and I still had to catch a bus to the commuter terminal and so I was getting worried again.

I got on the bus and it left at 10PM for the commuter terminal and got there at 10:05. The Lady told me I was at the top of the standby list and it looked very good for me to make the flight. I got on and we had the quiet little 45 minute flight to San Diego but when we arrived, no baggage. The lady informed me that it was probably due to my standby status and that since I was standby I would have to pick up the bag at the airport today. I then told her the reason I was in a standby status and she told me that they would deliver it to the house. Judy and Carlos picked me up at a little after 11:30 and we stopped at 7-11 to pick up some toiletries so I could shave and shower.

After that we went home and I got online with Laila. I reset my DP and then went to bed, but couldn’t sleep so I worked on a mission in the game and just stayed up all night. Now I am waiting for the lunch hour to be over and I have to get some paperwork done, then I can go home, and I could really use the rest.

So there you have it, the saga of the rest of the trip.

TGIF

January 19th, 2007 -- Posted in Health Issues, Kids | No Comments »

Wow, another Friday is here, and I am really glad. I actually got up a little early this morning, even though it was still really cold out this morning. Laila and I said our prayers, did a few game moves, and then it was off to work.

I started receivers this morning and we went pretty good until about 10 AM when the pre-safety inspection was held and then we dismissed the class so they could help us get a few discrepancies taken care of.

After that we were just wrapping things up when we got news that 2 of our co-workers will be going overseas on deployment. I am starting to get a little concerned as that is going to take our manning down to where it is going to be difficult to get anything done, or any time off. I guess that remains to be seen.

When I got home there was a note from my daughter saying she was going to the doctor because she hurt her back at work yesterday. I called her cellphone, but she had it turned off or something so I will have to wait for her to get home to find out what is up.

Other than that I guess I will rest up for another week starting Monday. Have a great weekend everyone.

Shopping Rush

December 29th, 2006 -- Posted in Family, Kids | No Comments »

This afternoon we finally got out of the house and took off to get some last minute things done before everything shuts down for the holidays. It was a little difficult to get Laila ready to leave. We got up early enough but then after we made breakfast and all she got busy cleaning this and that while I was updating my blogs and then she got interested in some stuff on the Internet after that.

In addition to updating my blog I also tried to locate the remaining two components for Jun Jun’s project. The only place I could find them was in New York City and so that was definitely out of the question. I decided instead of using those Field Effect Transistors (FET’s), I would instead look up some that we matched and also close in value. I needed both an N channel and a P channel. I found a pair that looked like it would do the job, and then tried to get Laila ready to go. Tin Tin was also going with us so now I was waiting on both of them.

As an after thought I decided to also look up a pair of power transistors, just in case I could not get the FET’s. Our first stop after getting a cap was the PCI Equitable Bank. We had a little problem a while back where I sent Laila some cash via Xoom. Pearl went to take some money out but the machine was out of cash. It still charged her though and Laila has been trying to get I straightened out since. Of course dealing with a bank is like dealing with the government. If you owe them they take it right away, but if they owe you you’ll see it sometime in the future, but not right away.

After paying our visit to the bank and reminding them we did not forget about the missing money, we hailed down a cab, which was a little difficult and then headed for Cyberzone.

When we got to Cyberzone we went immediately to the component store where they did not have the FET’s but they did have the power transistors. Everything cost less than 100 pesos which made Laila very happy and after paying for them we set off for SM to get some groceries.

When we got to SM Laila sent Tin Tin to pay the electric bill while we went to the department store section to get a few items. We then headed for the grocery store and it was extremely crowded today, I guess because of the upcoming holiday weekend and all. The big problem with the heavy crowds is that the pickpockets are also out in force, along with the shoplifters and other opportunists.

Last year at this time I did not have any troubles with anyone at the stores or anything. I have traveled overseas enough to know that there are a few things to do to prevent pickpockets and all. The first thing is don’t carry more cash than you are willing to lose. The second is to carry your wallet in your front pocket.

The day before yesterday I had some guy bump me on three different occasions at SM and I definitely knew why. I was waiting to grab his wrist as it hit one of my pockets but he never got close to my wallet, saw that I knew what he was up to, and beat a hasty retreat before I alerted the store security.

Well some similar things happened today, but again I did manage to make it home unscathed. Again today the traffic trying to get out of the mall was really slow. The big problem is that the parking lot was full. When that happens the drivers, as most people here that ca afford cars also hire drivers, just circle the mall holding up traffic and some just park in the middle of the street which really messes things up. Anyway we finally after quite a while managed to get out of the parking lot and then just had to fight all the traffic home.

When we did get home it was kind of a little late to cook anything for dinner so we went ahead and called McDonalds and they delivered dinner. Yes, McDonalds delivers here. We had a meal of Spaghetti, Fried Chicken and White Rice. McDonalds is a little different here. Also Laila heated up her left over Pancit Bijon and we ate a good dinner.

We then watched the news before coming in here for me to blog and Laila to get one of her accounts caught up.

Anyway, again the authorities were calling for folks to be careful with fireworks and to stop using firecrackers as too many people are getting hurt and too many fires are getting started. Of course nobody is listening as I have heard some really big bangs all night, and some sounded as large as M-80’s.

Also there has been a very interesting like soap opera thing going on here. Towards the end of last week a local congressman and on of his bodyguards were assassinated while leaving a wedding at a local church. They caught one of the shooters and after confessing he implemented the former deputy Mayor or Quezon City as well as the Governor as the mastermind behind the assassination. Today they stopped and searched the Governor’s mini van and found some automatic weapons and a lot of ammunition. Additionally to add gravy to the plot some suspicions of the Governor being unfaithful to his wife have also come out. The Governor of course is saying he is innocent and is being framed, as all crooked politicians do. Laila seems to trust this guy and believes he is being set up. I think he is behind it, so I guess we will see what happens in the future.

Well Laila is now happy, as they have found her money and credited her account. And it only took 20 days to get this straightened out. Well at least now she knows one thing not to do in the future.

Well I think it is time to convince Laila to get off the PC and we should curl up and watch some TV. Have a great day and a great holiday.

Lagging Issues due to Taiwan Earthquake

December 28th, 2006 -- Posted in Immigration, Internet, Iraq, Kids, Online Games | No Comments »

Well today is the 29th Philippines time so that means that this trip is rapidly drawing to an end and soon I will be on my way back to California. That has got me down just a bit, but then again I do have to make money so I can support us.

Laila and I were looking over World Net Daily today, because I remember seeing a story about the Taiwan quake from the other day affecting the Internet throughout Southeast Asia. The kids had been complaining about how Rose Online, the game they play, was running really slowly. Well since it is a joint venture between the Philippines and South Korea, and since the fiber optic cables off Taiwan were affected, I figured that was the cause.

Well it seems that six of the seven cables are cut and the seventh is damaged so Internet and communications will be disrupted for the next two weeks or maybe longer depending on how long it takes to repair it.

Also, while checking out World Net Daily I saw where another drunk illegal alien ran into a family of six, killing three of the family members. Why don’t we start giving the death penalty to drunk drivers who kill?

Saddam Hussein is due to be executed over the weekend, and I figure that is great news. They are threatening violence, but I kind of think that as some of these bad folks are executed that some of these attacks will start tapering off, since they are not stopping the movement from continuing toward democracy. I mean, after all the only places being attacked are all within view of the foreign reporters, or in the vicinity of Baghdad. The attacks coincide with the morning news reports here in the states. It is all a game being played by the terrorists to make the west look foolish, which our press more than happily will oblige.

Oh yeah, I forgot, I hope Donald Trump sues the ever loving crap out of that big foul mouthed poor excuse for a human being Rosie O’Donnell. While I can’t stand either of them, at least I don’t see Trump out their insulting American values all the time. Rosie O’Donnell is a, has been, washed up, angry woman. I don’t know what her problem is, and why she has to insult every class of people on the planet, but I would like to see the Donald sue her for everything she has, ever hopes to have, and to see her disappear from the airwaves.

Just because you are a star, and just because you have a soapbox to stand on, and just because you think you are superior and listened to as gospel, doesn’t mean you are. Just ask Tim Robbins, Janine Garafalo, Whoopi Goldberg, Ed Harris, and many others who have disappeared graciously from our Television sets feel about shooting their mouths off.

Well, I guess that is about it for now, since I have to look up a couple of suitable substitute components for Jun Jun’s project.

Have a great day.

You never know

December 9th, 2006 -- Posted in Kids, Shopping | No Comments »

I am a jeans and tee shirt man so I love the weekends because I get a chance to wear comfortable clothing.

My job has a dress code so I have to wear slacks and a nice shirt with dress shoes. On the weekend I can break out the jeans and a tee shirt and I am set.

It does have it’s disadvantages sometimes. Today I went shopping for a few items at target. I wanted to get some low voltage low current Christmas lights so we can decorate Laila’s apartment for the holidays, and I also wanted to get a better computer bag for my laptop. While there I also did some snooping for a Christmas present for Laila.

I had an idea of what I wanted but when I went to Target jewelry department they did not have much of a selection and it was all cheap stuff so I went to the mall.

One of the neat things that wearing jeans and a tee shirt when you are my age is that it makes it appear as if you are a bum I guess, and that means when you go to a jewelry counter you do not get waited upon.

My first stop was Macy’s Department Store, over at Plaza Bonita. I knew what I wanted and finally after standing around for a while as the folks behind the counter talked to one another and waited on other folks that had gotten there after me so I decided they didn’t want my money so I left and went to J C Penney.

When I got there there was a lady behind the counter and she kept waiting on everyone but me, many of whom didn’t buy anything. I waited and waited and was just about ready to leave when another salesperson, who had been working at another counter came over and asked if he could help me.

I told him what I was looking for and he mentioned that the item was quite expensive. I told him that did not matter and to box it up for me.

He rang it up and I paid for it and Ms. Ignore me saw the sale and gave me this strange little smile, as if saying I am sorry I screwed up.

After that it was off to the barbershop to get my hair cut and then home before Laila wakes up.

Anyway, it was great and just goes to show you can’t judge a person by how they dress. Must really be hurting her since all of those salespeople work on commission. Anyway now I have to e-mail my daughter Randine for an address. Her job has her currently working in Colorado for a while and I need to find out where to send her present.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Off to boot camp

November 20th, 2006 -- Posted in Family, Kids, Navy Stuffs | No Comments »

Wow, I am tired today.

David left really early this morning and I went ahead and got up to see him off. He may or may not leave for Great Lakes, Illinois today as he is currently going through the induction process at MEP’s. I think that stands for Military Entrance Processing. They will test him for drugs and give him a physical. He will then swear his oath of enlistment and once they are done he will be on his way to Chicago, and then catch a bus to Great Lakes Naval Training Center. Between boot camp and his “A” school he will be gone for about 4 months.

I wish him good luck and I hope they can change some of his bad habits. I also hope he calls from time to time. I will forward all his mail and all once he gets there. In the meantime we will clean up and remodel his room while he is gone.

Anyway, now that he has left it is bringing memories of my experience with MEP’s and checking into boot camp and all. It was the 12th of July 1974 and I had to get up very early in the morning and go through a physical and take my oath and all. That part wasn’t bad. We finished with everything and left Fresno in the early evening hours for a flight to San Diego. There were 7 or 8 of us, and we were told to get off the plane in San Diego and then go to a military help desk.

I was pretty excited because I had never flown before, so that was pretty cool. We landed in San Diego and went to the help desk and were told to go out front and catch the bus. We all went out front and there was only one bus so we all boarded it. It was a nice air conditioned bus with comfortable seating and I thought that was really nice of the Navy to treat us so well.

Then all of a sudden this First Class Petty Officer got on the bus and started cussing us out for being so stupid for getting on the wrong bus. He directed us to the little white Navy bus that had showed up and parked behind the one we got on, and then after we got on that one he continued to curse us all the way to Recruit Training Command.

When we got to recruit training command they took us to an area where we had to box up everything we had brought with us, so we could mail it home. They then took us to an open bay barracks to sleep for the night. The next morning we were awakened by someone throwing trash cans down the isles between the rows of racks (beds) and yelling at us to get out of bed. We then were taken to breakfast and then were issued uniforms, got our hair cut, and were assigned to a company. I don’t think they can cuss at them any more since the Navy is now a politically correct organization, but it does bring back some old memories.

I hope he has fun and remembers the guidance I gave him. Good luck and God bless you David, and may the time pass by quickly.

Update: Someone made a mistake and since his “A” school is full he will now be leaving in January .

Counting the days

November 11th, 2006 -- Posted in Close To Perfection, Family, Kids | No Comments »

I am feeling a bit lazy today so I will not blog much again today. I just really don’t have too much to blog about. I don’t want to get political so I am trying to stay away from that subject for the time being.

I don’t want to blog publicly about my relationship with Laila, other than to say I am so in love and can’t wait to be in her arms again in a little over a month.

The kids and I are fine and have made a lot of progress on the house. Judy and Carlos just left to go visit her mother for the day, but said they will be home in time for dinner. David and Jessica are still in bed after watching TV most of the night.

I will be getting my DVR installed next week and David leaves for Boot camp in 9 days. We will be doing Thanksgiving next weekend so that we can celebrate it as a family before he leaves.

So that is what is going on here. I am just counting the days until the 14th of December when I leave for Manila again. I already have my tickets bought and paid for and I will be staying there until January 3rd, so we will have a few weeks together again.

We were going to do some traveling, but instead decided to just spend our time together. We will be taking a small vacation, just the two of us this time, to celebrate the 1 year anniversary of us meeting in person.

Anyway, I guess that is about it for today. I have laundry to do and a few small chores to get done. Have a great weekend and happy Veteran’s Day.

Taking It Easy

November 4th, 2006 -- Posted in Home, Kids, TV and Radio | No Comments »

Well, Saturday is here and after staying up late watching movies with Laila last night I still managed to get up before 8 and chat with her before getting a few things done around the house and then going to Sid’s Carpet Barn to buy the carpet for next weeks bedroom. That will leave me with just David’s room, which we will do while he is in boot camp.

Now I am doing the laundry and getting a few other things done. I am also hoping that Tuesday comes and goes fast because it seems the politicians have suddenly managed to get a hold of a ton of money to plaster all the TV and Radio stations with ads, and some of them are getting pretty vicious.

Anyway it will all be over on Tuesday and all these ads will disappear for a while until the next election. Well I am going to keep my post small today. I promised Laila I would take it easy today, and I do have to check on the laundry so I will do that and then relax for a while before she wakes up.

Pearl’s Laptop

November 3rd, 2006 -- Posted in Computers, Kids, People, Politics | No Comments »

In June just before the election to fill the seat left vacant after Congressman Randy (Duke) Cunningham was jailed for corruption Francine Busbycommitted campaign suicide by telling a group of illegal aliens they did not need identification to vote, not papers to help with her campaign.  She was slaughtered on election day by Brian Bilbray.

Last night I was watching TV and discovered she is back, and running some really unsavory attack ad.  In the ad she states Bilbray is under investigation.  She does not state why he is being investigated, or anything.  She just puts it out there to hint that he is dishonest.  I hate this election and the lying ads.

The other thing that happened today is that the city of Escondido is being sued by the ACLU over an ordinance that penalizes people who rent to illegals.  Can’t we please send the ACLU to Mexico since they love illegals so much?  At least there they would not be dealing with aliens breaking the law.

Other than that I sent off Pearl’s laptop today.  It was a costly $167 and that caught me by surprise.  I didn’t think I would have to buy a plane to get it sent there.

Anyway I am trying to cook a great Friday afternoon meal before Judy has to go to work, so everyone have a great weekend.

Finally I am getting stuff caught up

October 28th, 2006 -- Posted in Close To Perfection, Home, Kids, TV and Radio, Weather | No Comments »

Well Saturday is here and even though I have been tired all week I actually got a lot done this morning. Last night Laila and I stayed up until 1:30 AM my side, mainly because I wanted her to plan some activities for the next visit.

I want her and I to get away, just the two of us for a couple of days. It will give us time to sit down and plan for our future. Also I want to get her away from the PC and take a break from my PC too. We will have the laptop for e-mail but we will not be playing any games.

This morning I got up at 7AM but the Santa Ana we have been having makes the mornings cold and the days hot, so after kicking off the covers and feeling that cold air, I pulled them right back on again and stayed in bed for an extra hour.

Laila and I then did our morning routine, thanking God for getting us together and saying prayers for our families and others that have affected our lives, and then I sent her off to bed so Judy, Carlos, and I could go carpet shopping and furniture shopping.

We went to Sid’s Carpet Barn again and I met with the same sales person I met last time. She picked out a nice shade of lavender that matches the color that they painted the walls in, then we took off for Jerome’s and got her a nice 6 piece bedroom set. They had the posture pedic mattresses on sale so we bought a queen size and box spring and made arrangements to have it delivered Wednesday or Thursday, after the carpet is installed.

After that was a quick stop at wal-mart to get some curtains for my room and a shampoo caddy for my bathroom. I also got a new shower head, one of those ones that allows you to move all over the shower.

Now I am charging up the rechargeable drill so I can go put up the curtains and in the meantime Carlos and I are watching Monsterfest on AMC. They are showing “Nightmare on Elm Street”. Laila wouldn’t like it, but then she is asleep and we will watch something else tonight.

So other than the laundry I only have one big chore to get done. And it isn’t really a big chore, but more of an enjoyable task. I uploaded the wedding pictures onto Flickr, but I need to sort them and get rid of the ones that are out of focus, ot camera tests of the floor and stuff.

I promised Randine and her mother that I would get some copies made, so after I get them sorted and all I will order the prints. I feel a bit guilty because I should have done this one already, but I have been really busy since returning home. We took so many pictures just getting them uploaded to Flickr took several hours, but I feel great that they are there because they are permanently backed up.

Well, time to get to work. I want to get everything done before Laila wakes up. Have a great weekend everyone.
