Virus deletes all files

I have a couple of unrelated topics to blog about today and the first one I guess is my morning ride to work.

I woke up on time this morning, sold the cheap blogs Laila and I trade, fed the puppy and headed out the door on time. When I got to Reo Drive and took my left turn I got stuck behind a pickup truck that was going 20 MPH in a 35 MPH zone. That happens frequently around here as a lot of folks are driving without a license or insurance so they are extra careful to not get stopped.

Anyway, this person also took the left turn onto 16th street, which is also where I turn so I was stuck behind them again. Then speed limit on 16th I was hoping that just maybe this person would look in their rear view mirror so that they could get an idea of how many people they were holding up as the traffic behind this person was stacking up. My next turn was to take a right turn onto Euclid Ave and as we approached the light I was hoping we would get there before it turned red so I could make my turn and I was also hoping this person would go straight. We got to the light just as it turned red and the slow cautious driver ran the red light. I almost had to pull over as for some reason it struck me as funny, that here this person would be so cautious as far as speed and then run a light, but then I thought cell phone. Since the windows of the truck were tinted I could not see this driver or what they were doing, but if I had to guess, I’ll bet they were on the cell phone. street is 30MPH and they adjusted accordingly to 15 MPH.

Laila’s PC got virused yesterday and lost everything, including pictures, document files, and stuff. I have a lot of that information on my PC, but I only have the things that I have saved since we met. It is a shame that people are so malicious and would spread these destructive programs. The only thing that the virus failed to delete was our chat history.

Lastly, I guess Cindy Sheehan has gone on a hunger strike to protest the war. She does not seem to be getting enough press, and I noticed that the announcement was a little obscure. My message to Cindy Sheehan is, if you are so against this country and this administration, just leave. There are many countries in the world that would love to have you there bad mouthing the United States. Go to Iran, Cuba or North Korea. I am sure they would treat you nice.

I guess that is all for now. Have a great day.

The Wife Made It

July 20th, 2005 -- Posted in Cyber Crimes, Family | No Comments »

Well, after an interesting and very stressful day the wife finally made it to Puerto Rico very early this morning. She had a very miserable trip though.

First, she had the hassle with security that I wrote about yesterday. She almost missed her connecting flight when she got to New York. She had 15 minutes to change planes and somehow made it. I hope her luggage made it, too.

She called me once she landed, and she was checking to see if the luggage made it. After seeing the weather front they were going to pass through I couldn’t go to sleep last night until I was sure she made it, so I had a very late night last night. I am glad she made it though.

I just finished deleting a bunch of Viagra adds that somehow appeared in my comments sections. I am beginning to hate these darned spam adds that keep showing up on my blog.

Also be careful of some e-mails that have been circulating about PayPal and some credit union agency. They are requesting that you reenter all of your PayPal account data. It basically told me my PayPal account was under suspension and would stay that way until I submitted the requested data. I clicked on the link and it took me to a PayPal look alike site. I sensed something was wrong, so I entered a bogus password and then logged off and logged on to the regular PayPal site.

My account was fine so I then checked the rest of my email and found one from some credit union that I do not even have an account with. The information contained with this one was identical to the PayPal letter except for the logo’s and stuff, which were for this credit union. I just wanted to give everyone a heads up, the identity thieves are out there alive and well. Be careful with your information and if you get one of these e-mails check with the parent company to see if they did indeed send it.
