Well to get off of the regular, my rampage about politics, it’s time to talk of the old school days as i do attend college at night for some self improvement and to use up my GI Bill before it’s goes away. I am currently taking a Chemistry 100 class at San Diego City College and it is pretty interesting, not because of what I am learning but because since it is a 100 class you meet some pretty interesting folks.
We have one group that are active duty military going to school on a program called tuition assistance. That is where the military chips in (I think it is 75% tuition these days) for active duty folks to go to school. We also have some retired military like me that are using our GI Bill. You have the grant and scholarship folks and then you have the folks that are actually paying their own way.
I am like the old geezer in the class as I am 48 years old and do show a few grey hairs. The military folks are in their late 20’s and the others are just youngsters. I always wonder why I and the folks that are paying fully for the class are the only ones that ever seem to have the homework done. The folks that are on grants never seem to have it done, the particular active duty group I am with now, never have it done (though in the advanced classes they are always prepared).
Tonight I found that I may not even have to take the lab final to get an “A”. Sone of these folks have to pull an “A” on the final to get a “C” in the lab. Why do these folks even try and go to school if they are not going to apply themselves? I have a hard time understanding why folks would try and pass up a chance to improve themselves whether they are paying for it or not.
Why spend the time going to school and dedicating all that time during the week sitting in class? I just don’t understand it. I can always find the time to study for class, be it before school, after school or during breaks from work and now court. It doesn’t take that much time. This Chemistry class started with over 80 people and is now down to about 25. It’s not that hard if folks would just read the book and do the homework. The teacher is excellent (and as I teach things myself I think I’m a good judge) and he is always around to help folks on his off time, as he cares about his students.
Well I guess all I can say is I’ll get another “A” and these folks that are keeping their “C” average will mostly make it, but they will find the job market hard. I have already retired from one career that gives me an income of a little more that $36,000 a year and currently work in another job where I earn just under $45,000 a year. You do not get jobs by being tattooed, wearing nose rings, by presenting a college record that contains a “C” average, or having tie-dyed hair.
Yes you might land that great paying job at the tattoo parlor, but you are not going to land the job that pays. To land a job that pays you must be clean cut (Haircut and a suit), and present a school record that shows you put forth an effort. A “C” in 100 classes does not demonstrate effort, it demonstrates you will do what it takes to get by. A business will always take the best candidate and if you with your “C” average goes up against someone with an “A” average, guess who’s going to get the job.
Food for thought.

SAN DIEGO — Three suspected illegal immigrants rescued from the desert on Tuesday have escaped, said officials with the Border Patrol.
The undocumented workers were among a group of 24 people found near Ocotillo Wells in Imperial County just over the San Diego County border. The three people who escaped claimed to be suffering from heat exhaustion and were taken to hospitals. By the time Border Patrol agents got to the hospitals, however, the immigrants had left. Agents told NBC 7/39 that their first priority was getting the people medical attention and because the immigrants were not considered dangerous, they were not sent with law-enforcement escorts to keep them in custody.
Again, Illegals taking advantage of our emergency rooms and taxpayer money. We should just send the bill for the medical care to Vincente Fox, as if that would ever be paid.
This is almost an everyday thing here in San Diego and I will continue to post anything that I find pretaining to this subject. The time has come to knock this crap off. We can no longer allow this kind of stuff to happen. Usama Bin Laden himself could cross into this country across the border with Mexico and we would never know. If he were to and was caught these folks would just let him go. This is just another in a long chain of events that tells me our federal Government is not serious about protecting our borders.

Isn’t it time that the United States just bail out of the United Nations?
This is the most irrelevent group of eggheads that the world has ever produced. I can’t seem to think of one thing that the United Nations has done recently other than to try and twart our efforts in Iraq, and start investigating themselves for fraud regarding the oil for food program, and of course the guilty will be exposed from that, RIGHT.
It’s time we just quit this debating society and in fact have them move from New York to Paris where they would better serve the folks they favor. They have just outlived their usefulness and have been corrupted by greed.

Are you as outraged as I am about this article in World Net Daily. Check it out by clicking the link under Would Net Daily commentary.
To refer to Pat Tillman as a dumb jock because he saw fit to pay the ultimate sacrifice for the sake of keeping this country free and safe is about as outrageous an attack I have seen. If these people are so set on degrading this country and the people that protect it I propose that they should move to Canada, France or Germany where they don’t have to live under the terrible conditions they live under now.
If I were so dissatisfied with my living conditions I would move somewhere that would improve my conditions. I wish I were a hacker as I would close down this website, but i am not computer literate enough to do it.
And then to find that this outfit, as anti-American as it is it spewing this trash, funded in part by the wife of someone running for president. Do we really want someone like that for a First Lady. I am just too flabbergasted to comment any further on this one.

I didn’t see much in the press tonight to really comment on. Same old stuff Bush is bad, Kwrry is good. Why is all the network news anchirs from Canada?
Now to another pet peeve. This morning on my way to court I got caught in traffic. While I am used to the parking lots on the freeways here, I always wonder why the traffic is backed up. Usually it is because of an accident. This morning there were no accidents ar anything to see. It was caused by folks weaving in and out of traffic causing all the folks following to hit the breaks. Don’t these folks realizes that what they do affects others?
So many times I find that the backups are caused by idiots trying to weave their way through traffic, that is caused by their predecessors. If folks would drive in a normal way these backups wouldn’t happen

I am really getting fed up with John Kerry and his bragging of his Military Service that he later deplored fellow servicemen for. He was the one who was always saying that the war records from 30 years ago should not be brought up, but then went on attack against Bush and his National Guard Service. I could care less about either’s military service 30 years ago.
I want to hear what they are going to do in the future. Right now I will not vote for either one. Bush is only addressing the war on terrorism, while I don’t know what Kerry stands for. I want to hear about what I think are the major issues and not hear about all the bad crap that each have done.
I want to see Illegal Immigration addressed. I want to see high taxes addressed. i wont to see welfare reform and health care reform. Tort reform must also be addressed as well as the loss of tax revenues as countries move off shore. I want the Socialist Party kicked out of our schools and screwed the prescription drug policy for the elderly. I have my prescription drugs should I need them, but that was because i earned them buy serving my country. All veterans have a prescription drug program through the V.A.
I feel if you were a Peace Corps worker, or a member of the Military you have earned a Government sponsored Prescription Drug policy. If you were Joe Fat Behind that spent all your money and are now looking for a handout, I say, sorry about that. It is not the taxpayers place to take care of your bad decisions.
For all the school teachers crying about low wages and all, sorry that is a state problem, and here in California, I frankly am tired of seeing all the tax dollars paid in, going down the drain. With what I pay in State taxes i might as well take my first two paychecks of the year and flush them down the toilet, because that is all the state is going to do with it.
Welfare is a real pet peeve for me and it goes hand in hand with Illegal Immigration. Why should I, who works my ass off, pay to support someone who has no desire to work, or thiose from another country that are here to take advantage of our countries generousity. If we need Illegals because we don’t have enough folks to work the low paying jobs, then put the welfare folks to work instead. If they don’t make enough then make welfare a supplement to their income of give them free child care or something like that.
When I see someone selling their groceries, that they bought with food stamps, out in front of the Supermarket, or when I see another welfare recipient driving a Lincoln Navigator I have a problem.
And then to see students protesting the increase in Community College fees as the did here in San Diego, today. I have a problem with that as I go to school with many of these folks. They are happy to get a “C” and spend no effort in school. It is party time and all they seem to want is that next financial aid check or Pell Grant. They know that Bush=Nazi, but they don’t know how many states in the union there are, nor who the Secretary of Defense is. They carry signs printed by International Answer, but can’t tell you who sponsors that organization.
When I look at what is going on nowadays, I am ashamed that I spent 26 years of my life protecting it, because the way things are going now we are just going to give it away. As I am almost 49 years old now, I am nearing that age where I’m probably going to develop medical problems and all. When I was younger I made allowances for that. I bought my house at a young age and invested money in a retirement plan, besides my Navy retirement. I also went out after my Navy retirement and got another job and guess what, it was the first job I applied for. There are jobs available for those that want it. I am starting another job next month teaching PowerPoint for free because I need a charity tax write off. Why couldn’t some welfare person with all the time in the world learn Power point and take the $45 an hour job that I will be doing as a charitable deduction. It just makes me mad that folks don’t even try and advance themselves.
Goodnight.

Sure is a shame about ex-football player, Army Ranger Pat Tillman.
He is a true hero in my book as he did not demand a lot of press coverage and tried to maintain a low profile.
Now that he is gone, maybe some of the folks that are out there badmouthing the troops will have a little more respect for what they do. It’s certainly a shame that it takes the death of a high profile person to wake some folks up.
My heart goes out to his family and his former team mates as well as the folks that served with him.

Some pretty terrible news out of the Middle East today. All of the deaths from car bombs and all. One of these days these folks will wake up and fight back against the terrorists that live amoung them. Especially since it’s their people and now their children that are getting blown up.
All they have to do it rat these bad guys out to the police or the military units there and this could get cleaned up in short order.
I am getting quite perturbed with some of these idiots in congress calling for the return of the Draft. I joined the Navy back in 1974, the first year of the all volunteer force. True, everyone in the Navy at that time were volunteers, but that was so they wouldn’t have to go in the Army. The first few years that I was in the Navy was extremely different than it is today. I hate to talk bad about old shipmates but the Navy in those days had a big problem with drugs and alcohol, and there were a lot of racial issues.
In the late 70’s the Navy started to clean up it’s act. First with the random urinalysis that came out unannounced in 1977 or 78 I think. The rules back then were that if you failed one you went to Captains Mast, and usually lost a couple of months pay and were restricted to the ship in addition to being reduced in rate. They wouldn’t kick you out of the service though. In 1980 they made the Officers and Chiefs subject to automatic discharge for failure of one urinalysis and extended it to all members of the Naval Service in about 1985 or so. They then started cracking down on alcohol and then the sexual harrassment after tailhook. All in all the have a fine force of clean living young men and women who I was extremely proud to serve with.
As I attend College now I go to school with some of what society calls the future generation and from the majority of the youngsters I go to school with i would find it extremely hard to serve with all but a few of them. Most of them wouldn’t pass the screening to get into the service as they would have to pass a urinalysis to join.
I feel by drafting folks that have no desire to give anything back to the country that has given them so much, would be a terrible thing to do to the folks that proudly and voluntarily wear the uniform today. I would not want to deal with folks that wre there because they had to be there.
Folks that haven’t served recently have no idea what the makeup or our Armed Forces is. When I see idiots like New York Congressman Charley Rangle, who is always on my new channel of choice Fox News and he starts talking about our military being made of disadvantaged minorities, I get so mad that I feel like throwing a boot through the TV set. The majority of folks I served with were White Lower Middle Class folks with some college. Yes we had all races and backrounds but that was the majority.
I think that with all the time and effort the Pentagon has invested in cleaning up the military they would never except the draft and all the problems that come with it.
One thing the Pentagon had better do though is quit mistreating and cut down their dependance on the National Guard and reservists. While it is good to rely on the reserves in times of crisis, and while these guys and gals are also volunteers, calling them up for these long periods of time is killing the jobs that they attempt to return to after their service is complete. This is a terrible thing to do to these folks. Also they are not getting the same medical treatment as the regular troops, nor the same benefits as the regular troops. This situation needs to be corrected or there will be no reserves to draw from in the future.
Sorry some of my pictures have disappeared again. I posted them on my daughters website and she has been trying to make it a little better, which has somehow made some of my pictures disappear. After she gets home I’ll find out what happened and hopefully we’ll get them back up.
Have a nice night folks.

From WORLDNETDAILY: WND COMING TO AMERICA
Illegals make mad rush for border Aliens dash to beat looming crackdown deadline Posted: April 21, 2004 1:00 a.m. Eastern © 2004 WorldNetDaily.com Seeking to beat a looming Border Patrol crackdown on illegal-alien smuggling, penetrations of America’s southern border are up 100 percent over last year in Arizona. The crackdown is set for June 1, and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials are witnessing a furious effort by “coyotes,” or people smugglers, to get their cargo north. “There is a sense of urgency (among smugglers), if you will because of the tempo of this operation, the increased resources and the increased density of enforcement focus on that border,” David Aguilar, chief of the Border Patrol’s Tucson sector, told the Tucson Citizen. Michael J. Garcia, assistant secretary for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, agreed. “The criminal organizations aren’t going to be idle,” Garcia told the paper.
“Our challenge is to anticipate how they’re going to react.” According to the report, Border Patrol agents working in the Tucson sector are apprehending about 2,038 people a day halfway into this fiscal year – double the average of a year ago. Yuma agents have apprehended more than 43,000 migrants halfway through this fiscal year. They apprehended fewer than 57,000 in all of the previous year. According to other officials, in New Mexico and west Texas, apprehensions are up 13 percent. Agents in the El Paso sector, who oversee all of New Mexico, have apprehended almost 54,000 people, up from fewer than 47,500 in the same period a year ago. One aspect of the latest border crackdown – unmanned aerial vehicles – won’t be operational until close to June 1. In addition to helicopters, UAVs and other high-tech gadgetry, the agency plans a new facility in the desert to detain illegal aliens. Border Patrol agents have said another factor contributing to the rise in illegal alien arrests is President Bush’s plans to change immigration laws. Officials reported a 15 percent increase in the use of fraudulent documents at the world’s busiest land border crossing. Immigration-reform groups point to the finding at the San Ysidro border crossing with alarm – suggesting that putting what some see as an amnesty program on the table represents an invitation for more illegal immigration. More than half of those caught using phony documents say the president’s offer of de facto amnesty motivated them to attempt to sneak into the United States, the report added. Related story: Illegals rise 15 percent since Bush plan.
As I was listening to one of the local radio shows the other day I heard that the Illegals are organizing. It seems that when they register for their Mexican ID their adresses and phone numbers are listed. Whenecer anything regarding illegal immigration comes up, the are called and told to protest against city counsels, state reps, ect. I wonder why the INS is not picking these folks up. I know a lot of legal Mexican folks that don’t want them here. i as an American don’t want them here. If Geroge Bush wants my vote he’s going to have to do something about this. After all if Kerry does win, what will he be able to do with a Republican Congress and Senate. Homeland Security, is a joke if they don’t shut down the border. Usama himself could walk across the Mexican or Canadian borders without detection. This is totally unacceptable. This is the one thing that will prevent me from voting for anyone for President this year. As I watch our health care, schools and pretty much everything else circle the drain I wonder why our politians aren’t doing anything about it.
How do you feel about this?
