Lack of blogging

I have been busy and will explain later.

Parking Problems

February 25th, 2005 -- Posted in Daily Rant | No Comments »

One thing that really bothers me is going somewhere and then not finding parking.

Well we have a post office box, mainly because we were getting tired of the neighborhood kids taking our mail. Even though the kids moved years ago, we still have it out of force of habit.

Well our post office is in a strip mall, and parking has usually been difficult but not impossible until recently. A construction company moved into the strip mall and their employees are now using all the parking and if not their employees then it is their company vehicles.

Anyway not I guess I will have to time my visits to the post office a little better so I can park in the mail truck slots while they are out delivering. It just makes it a pain in the butt.

Well it is Friday night so it’s off to play poker and blackjack with the GSN network.

Have a great weekend.

NAMBLA

February 24th, 2005 -- Posted in Current Events, TV and Radio | No Comments »

Well the rain is gone and when I got up this morning I felt great. I had no leg pain though I felt a little weak. All was good until about halfway through the morning at work when the knee started acting up, but I was able to sit down and let it pass.

At least now I am convinced that it is healing and the weather does play a part in how my leg feels. The next big rainstorm is a few days out. Depending which news you watch it should come in on Sunday, Monday or Tuesday. Go to give a hand to the weather guessers, they can’t seem to get their stories straight.

Want to make a quick 1000 dollars. Rick Roberts, a local radio show host has put out a bounty on all NAMBLA members, so if you know any of these sick folks send him an e-mail with the particulars. I have a link to his site in my favorites under Radio Shows.

For those who don’t know what NAMBLA is, it stands for North American Man Boy Love Association. It is a group of phidophiles who target under age boys. Their motto is “over eight is too late”. If you know any of these sicko’s turn them in for your $1000.

I really don’t get the teachers union in this state. They have been running radio ad after radio ad getting all over the Governator for budget cuts, when in fact their budget has been increased. It just hasn’t been increased as much as they would have liked it to be increased.

Seems like all we do as taxpayers in California, is pay more and more to schools. And all we hear is that they need more and more. I say get rid of the excess administrators, illegal aliens, and bad teachers, before we continue to throw money at this. Anyway, school work is calling, so I had better get on to that.

Back driving a manual transmission

February 23rd, 2005 -- Posted in Health Issues, Training, Work | No Comments »

Wow, I was trying to think of something to blog about and have drawn a blank. Probably because I have been really hurting from the wet weather and burnt out with school work and work.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my job, but when the weather is like this it really wakes up the damaged nerve in my back, and though the pain is not as bad as when I first hurt it, it is still very uncomfortable. I can’t sit long or walk long, and it gets frustrating. On work days I have had to change my regular routine. I get up earlier than usual, just so I can lay in the bathtub, in really hot water for between half an hour to an hour, before I can even attempt to get dressed.

I am now back to driving my car which has a manual transmission and the shifting drives my leg nuts, even though I operate the clutch with my other leg. Speaking of which my bad leg has shrunk 2.5 inches in circumference.

When I do get to work I can’t be as active as I used to be, and sometimes my leg just gives out. So I have to always make sure I am near something to catch onto so I won’t fall. I think it is as frustrating as it is uncomfortable as I don’t feel fully up to my job, but I can’t afford to take more time off.

In school work in the last two days I have submitted 5 term papers, and take 4 tests. I am also working on a group project where we are supposed to do a group chat each week. Well as I sit here every night on group chat with the completed assignment already done (I did it over the weekend) I might have one person show up, and most of the time they have nothing to offer. Did I tell you I hate group projects? Anyway thank God this Professor has us grade each others group participation, so these guys are going to be in for a rude awaking at grade time.

I would blog about Illegal immigration, Ted Rall, or the city being broke but I am to lazy and sore tonight to go look for articles to back up my thoughts. Anyway, at least the weather is starting to clear up.

Anyway, I guess that is it for tonight.

20 inches Rainfall

February 23rd, 2005 -- Posted in Environment and Nature | No Comments »

Well overnight and through the day we managed to get more rain.

If we get about 5 inches by June 30th it will be the worst year of rainfall since records started being kept here in 1850. The most rainy season ever was 1882-1883 with a little over 25 inches of rain. It was closely followed by 1940-1941 with a little over 24 inches. We just topped 20 inches last night and are third.

It has cleared up some but we will still get scattered bits of rain over the next couple of days until the next big storm hits on Sunday. Right now as I look out the window I see we will be getting rained on shortly.

Anyway, all of this on the heels of the longest rainless period in San Diego. Amazing weather this year.

More Heavy Showers

February 22nd, 2005 -- Posted in Environment and Nature | No Comments »

Well the rain is still coming.

We are a foot over normal and still it comes. The roads are a mess and the dam is still overflowing. We have houses sliding down the hills, storm drains backing up, and sink holes developing. Here is the latest and greatest satellite image:

I live in the area between Imperial Beach and San Diego on the map. I actually live in San Diego, but I am right on the edge between National City and Bonita. Looks like we are going to have some heavy showers for a while.

Lots of Rains

February 21st, 2005 -- Posted in Environment and Nature | No Comments »

Well it has been raining here again and now we are getting the signs that the town just can’t take any more. we have flooding all over, accidents all over the roads and sinkholes, and along with all of that the Lake Hodges Dam is overflowing. I guess it is supposed to last until at least Thursday this time. Some areas of the city have received a much as a foot more rain than normal so far this year. Since we live in an area that is mostly desert, the ground can’t handle the rain and the storm drains can’t handle the runoff.

Here are some pictures of the damage in Southern California:

Hopefully all of this will letup without much more damage. Oh by the way, my area is safe though I have been eyeballing the back of my property as I do live on a hill.

Neopets Black Pawkeet

Well tonight while playing the slots on Neopets I came close, but in typical fashion, I went broke. Better to do it at home for free than in a casino with real money. Here is the screen shot:

If only all the chests were in a row. Darn.

Wet Weekend

February 19th, 2005 -- Posted in Daily Rant | No Comments »

Well another weekend is here and of course it has been raining so it has been a lot of fun trying to get around town. People here just can’t drive in the rain.

I would have just stayed home if I didn’t have my volunteer work to do, but at least it has been worth it. I managed to get several people set up with e-mail accounts and even got blogs started for two folks. So I guess all in all it was not a bad day.

Now as long as I can get home without getting in a wreck everything will be great.
