Well I am tired as hell and the long weekend is almost over.
I was going to paint today but we found some more drywall that needed to be repaired, and I rebuilt the banister for the stairs. I got all that done and I guess I will have to paint tomorrow. Thank god I have a paint sprayer as I can knock that out really quick and cleanup is easy as all I will have to do is pick up the drop cloths and run some water through the sprayer. I have one of those kind of sprayers.
Well I guess the biggest news I have heard over the weekend is how Ted Koppel is going to announce the names of the Iraqi and Afghanistan war dead on his show. I guess some people find that offensive, but I don’t. It is good to have them recognized, as long as it is done tastefully. Personally I won’t be watching as I will be in bed by then. I gave up watching Ted Koppel years ago when I discovered Fox News.
I have heard about several DUI’s here in San Diego, a couple of them resulting in deaths. I sure wish people would stop drinking and driving. They endanger too many people, and it is usually innocent drivers that get killed or maimed. It is a stupid thing to do and if you have done it and made it home ok, then you were lucky. One of these days that luck will run out. Well I guess that is about it for the day.
Have a great work week.

Well today we did some dry wall repairs and are all set to paint some more tomorrow, and I am tired and sore. Usually we do a really crummy job on drywall, but after watching the contractors do it, things went much better this time. Anyway, I will be glad when all of this is done and I can lay back and take it easy.
Since we have been doing a lot of work on the house tonight was a fast food night. On the way to Jack in the Box, I was listening to Drudge and he was going on about how Oliver Stone got busted last night for drunk driving and drug possession, but the last press report on it was from 5:30 AM. If it would have been someone like Limbaugh it would be breaking news all weekend.
I forgot all about the Indianapolis 500 today, and heard about it on my way home from another Home Depot trip. When I got home Danica Patrick was in the lead with about 10 laps to go. Then I watched her slow down to conserve fuel, and then watched her get passed. It sure would have been cool if she would have won. Anyway she did a great job and for a female rookie driver to lead the race is an awesome feat. I expect to see more of her in the future.
Well I guess that is about it for tonight. I am watching a Law and Order, SVU marathon since there doesn’t seem to be much more on tonight. I am also trying to get my plushie tycoon account up to the point where I will get some points this month. I bankrupted it about three days ago, after doing really well this month. It has been tricky, but I think I will make the 50K cutoff for points.
Also Laila is running a contest for blogshares, and I guess it includes a review of her blog and mine with the winners getting premium memberships and chips. That should be interesting. Well have a great what’s left of the three day weekend. See you all tomorrow.

Well so much for the three day weekend.
Ma had me go to Home Depot, and as a result, I have been painting all day today. Now that it is early evening, I think I am pretty much done for the day. I went out and got a few slurpies for the wife and I and now I am sitting in my computer chair trying to recover.
And of course she is at the Home Depot getting more stuff for me to do tomorrow. She just had to wait until our other son stopped by with his truck so she could get molding and stuff that wouldn’t fit in the car. Oh well, I guess that’s life as a homeowner. Always fixing something.
Since it is Memorial Day weekend some of the movie channels are showing a lot of those cool old WW2 movies. You know, from the days when Hollywood was Pro military instead of the way they are now. Anyway, I am watching “They were Expendable” right now. They knew how to make movies back in those days. Anyway, I guess that’s about it for today.

It is now the start of Memorial Day weekend. This holiday is to honor all the folks that lost their life allowing us to have the freedoms we have. While you are out partying, traveling, or what ever else you will be doing please take a minute to think about what this holiday really means.
I also hope the press will do this as they seem to be so anti-military lately. If it were not for the military they would not have the freedom to report things in the careless and biased method they do.
The other day I blogged about that worthless piece of crap site Forsake the Troops. I don’t know anyone that likes what this idiot has to say, but myself and the military people I know would still die to give him the right to say it.
That is what this weekend means. It is not for the Veterans or the current military members. It is for those that made the ultimate sacrifice. They gave their lives so you could enjoy the freedoms you have. Please remember them for that.

Last night and this morning on the news huge amounts of fire fighters, nurses and teachers were out protesting about supposed budget cuts that he is making. I don’t know much about the fire fighters and the nurses but with the teachers, they got more money than last year, just not as much as they expected. I blogged about this a couple of months ago and linked to the facts then. I will try and dig it up and post it as a link.
These people just don’t seem to get it. The State is broke. You can’t continue to spend $1.10 for each $1.00 taken in. Arnold has been trying to get the legislatures spending under control and has a lot of ballot measures coming out. Since he can’t get the idiots in Sacramento to do anything he is taking it to the people.
The unions are going all out to try and get these measures voted down. They have huge advertising campaigns that distort the truth of flat out lie. I am thankful that there are enough conservative talk radio stations throughout the state to tell it like it is and keep these people from flushing the state further down the drain.
I am hoping that Arnold.s ballot measures will bring a lot of folks to the polls. If that happens some of these phony bologna politicians in Sacramento might wind up, unemployed.
It’s time to take back the state from those who are spending it out of existence. Arnold’s measures will do this and send a message.

I am bored. I am currently at work, but one of the disadvantages of teaching sailors is the Navy part. The entire class had to go to urinalysis testing today. They left at 8 AM and it is now 10AM and they are still not all back, so today is a bust. I have already aligned three radios while waiting for them, and also managed to surf some of my favorite blogs.
I wish I would have known it was going to take this long so I could have taken half a day of vacation time or something. Oh well, I guess that is the price I have to pay for having such a great job.
I was hoping Michelle Malkin’s latest column was out but it’s not out yet. I guess she will put it up a little later. I saw that Newsweek is still in the hole after the Koran flushing story and are catching more heat over the Japanese cover showing the American Flag in the trash can. I gave up reading the liberal rag magazines long ago. Besides when they write something it will be up on the web anyway so why spend the money. I was watching TV last night and they were doing a lot of advertising for new shows that are coming in the future. Isn’t there something else that they can put on other than these darn reality shows. I guess they have one coming up where people try and get fired, a takeoff on the Apprentice. There were several others too. I don’t watch them, and wish they would get some more good drama series type programs on. I am sure glad I have DSS so I have an alternative to the crap on the networks.
Well, I guess that is about it for now. They are coming back so I guess it is time to try and salvage what is left of the teaching day.

While I was sitting in front of my PC… I was having a problem thinking about something to blog about.
Everywhere I look I see folks blogging about the filibuster thing in the senate. Frankly, I don’t think nothing has changed, though the senators who think we are all morons and that they are the ruling class, are all over the TV set claiming victory.
This battle is not over. As soon as the President tries to put a conservative judge on the Supreme court all of this filibuster, nuclear option stuff will right back on the news again. In the meantime a few of his nominees that would have made it anyway will get approved.
All of this partisan stuff is beginning to get on my nerves. Since these guys can’t seem to get anything done, other than partisan bickering I think it is about time to get rid of the whole lot of them next election.
My class is watching the contender tonight. I guess the entire class is really into the show. Instead, I will be watching NCIS and House. NCIS because of all the interesting things they do on the show that they don’t do in real life. And House because I like the way he is such a smart ass. After that of course Law and Order, SVU. The wife loves that one.
Anyway I guess that is about it for tonight. I have to go raid at Blogshares and mind my plushie factory at Neopets. I have such an interesting life, what can I say.

When my grandparents arrived at Ellis island back in the 1920’s and 30’s they had to go through a physical exam along with other little requirements to ensure the health of the people of the US.
Now we have this: Are illegals making U.S. a leper colony?
We don’t know what diseases these folks are bringing to this country.
It is just another problem with uncontrolled immigration. Diseases that have been dead for years are coming back. It is just another reason to close the borders and keep these folks out.

Wow, this weekend went by so fast.
Last Friday, our TV crapped out. I kind of figured it was on it’s last legs so today we went out and got another. Too bad we have to wait for it to be delivered. Anyway, until then we are still using the small one from the bedroom.
Other than that we did things like grocery shopping, and clothes shopping for the wife (boring). She has been losing weight and had to but some stuff that fits, an I don’t mind going. It is just that it takes her so long to pick out something.
Other than that a little cleaning and a little relaxing, and tomorrow it’s back to work for the week. It should be fun as we are starting the Receiver portion of the course tomorrow, and I like doing that as there are lots of scats. Antennas is still my favorite area to teach because ours have a lot of extra stuff on them to keep the antennas trained on the satellite when the ship turns.
Well I guess that is it for tonight. Back to relaxing.

OK, time to get you’ all caught up on what is going on in San Diego. There have been a few interesting things in the news here lately that are worth blogging about. As I have blogged about in the past our wonderful city is circling the drain mainly due to mismanagement of the city’s pension fund. Last week the indicted 6 retirement board folks for voting themselves large pension raises. These are felony indictments so these folks are looking at serious charges.
Corruption charges
The city council has finally agreed to put the cross at Mt. Soledad on the ballot. I would have rather have seen them just turn it over to the feds, but at least we will get to vote on it.
THE CROSS ON MT. SOLEDAD
Of course this has to be driving Donna Frye nuts. She is being supported by the big labor unions in her attempt at running for mayor, since Murphy is resigning. The cross is a big issue that will bring out a lot of conservative voters. This will offset her base of the young college brainwashed and radical leftists. It was very lucky that in the last election the folks voting for her were smart enough to write in her name, but then not smart enough to mark the box next to it. Now if only someone worth a darn would run. Where are you Ron Roberts?
And the case against two of our city councilmen seems to be rolling along and I think they are going to be found guilty. The FBI has too much on them. Anyway that should get you up to speed on what is happening here lately. Scary thought, Donna Frye, surf shop owner, and possible San Diego Mayor.
