Florida Cops Botch Case

June 30th, 2005 -- Posted in TV and Radio | No Comments »

A while back I blogged about the Jessica Lunsford case in Florida.

Tonight while watch the O’Reilly Factor they were talking about how Couey, the guy charged with the rape and murder requested a lawyer, and since police kept questioning him his confession may get tossed. What kind of keystone cops do they have down there. This is ridiculous. Here is my original post.

This is horrible

The played a tape where he talked about burying her alive and all. If this guy gets off because of police ignorance I hope they fire all involved. This was a hideous case and this guy should get the justice he has earned, not off on a technicality.

Iraqi’s Caught Crossing the Border

June 29th, 2005 -- Posted in Immigration | No Comments »

Seems that a couple of Iraqi’s were nabbed trying to cross into the United States. I guess the worse is out, if you want to get to the United States just go to Mexico. Actually I am kind of surprised these guys were caught. Also since these guys were caught how many others have already made it here without being caught. How about Iranians and others.

The government is giving our country away bit by bit. They let anyone in as there is very little border enforcement. They take our money away and give it to others or waste it in a wealth redistribution program called taxes. Now the Supreme Court has taken away your right to own personal property. What is going to be next?

I am really growing concerned over the way things are going in this country. Our freedoms are being eroded day by day. It is about time to look at impeaching a few folks from the Supreme Court and maybe some Representatives and Senators. One of congresses responsibilities is to keep us safe and protect our rights. That is currently not happening. If I did my job the way these folks are doing theirs I would lose my job. It is about time they started losing theirs.

I used to be a Republican and this administration has convinced me to become an Independent.

What comes around…

June 28th, 2005 -- Posted in People | No Comments »

What comes around, goes around.

I was really happy to hear about this one. I heard about it when I was on my way home from work, but thought it was a hoax. I guess it isn’t. I say it is justice.

Could a hotel be built on the land owned by Supreme Court Justice David H. Souter?

I hope this developer gets it approved and gets to make Justice Souter have to sell. After all what is good for the average American, must be good enough for him.

Philippine President Admits

June 27th, 2005 -- Posted in Philippines | No Comments »

I told readers a while back I would keep up with this one.

It seems that President Arroyo went on TV and admitted it was her voice on the tape. Now hers supporters are out touting her honesty, while others are trying to get impeachment papers filed, knowing full well that it will not pass, as they have enough votes to prevent it.

She has already stated she will not step down. I guess it will take the outrage of the Philippine people to force her out. Lets see what happens next. Here is the story.

A Visit to Golden Acorn Casino

June 26th, 2005 -- Posted in Family | No Comments »

The Del Mar Fair is currently going on here in sunny San Diego, so yesterday on the spur of the moment I convinced the wife and daughter we should go. We had a few minor errands to run. like get gas for the car and some spending cash.

Anyway by the time we finished gassing up the car and all they had convinced me that they would rather head east to the Golden Acorn Casino. So anyway off we went and as usual I lost, but only $200 while the daughter won $1200 and the wife won $800. At least we came out ahead as a family.

Also when at the casino’s I usually get happy feet and just want to play fast and go. Have you every tried to get women to leave when they are on a hot streak? They wouldn’t even stop to eat. I finally got very hungry and went to their restaurant. I had the 16 oz prime rib, with baked potato, veggies and a bowl of chicken noodle soup for less than $20, and it was good. The problem was there was so much food I couldn’t eat it all. I packed up the half portion of the prime rib that I couldn’t finish and the bread rolls and took them out to Ma RWO so she could eat and play at the same time.

Anyway we all had fun and at least we came home with more than we took with us for a change.

Three missing boys found dead

I was reading this and it is just so sad.

Three missing boys found dead

How in the world did the police and folks searching miss checking a car that was right there on the property. This is incompetence on a major scale.

I really feel for these families.

Goodbye Personal Property Rights

June 24th, 2005 -- Posted in News, Personal | No Comments »

I was going to blog about this yesterday but I was too angered by this one to write about it. The Supreme Court has decided that if your City Council thinks that stripping you of your land and selling it to another person or a company is good for the City they can do it.

When I was younger this type of thing happened to my family twice. When we were living in Vallejo, California the city decided to widen the street that my parents owned a business on. The city used eminent domain and my parents were forced to sell. As a result they lost their business. They tried to relocate and make a go of it at another location but had lost their customer base as they had to move to another neighborhood.

Later in life my parents rented a house in Fresno, California and the city decided to put a freeway through the center of town. Our landlord was forced to sell and we had to move. While it didn’t really affect us that much other than we had to move it was an inconvenience.

Both of those incidents were actually needed for the benefit of the folks living in the city, and I believe my parents and the homeowner were compensated fairly.

Now however the Supreme Court has opened the door to businesses and the rich. I live in a nice middle class neighborhood in San Diego. I live on top of a hill with a nice view of the mountains It is located in the city close to where I work and close to pretty much everything else in the city.

Suppose some rich person wants to go ahead and buy up my neighborhood and build a big mansion here. Then according to the ruling all they have to do is go convince the City Council that it would be beneficial to the city to allow them to buy up our land and rebuild on it. And of course the City Council is going to approve it as it will bring in more property taxes than my neighbors and I are paying now.

This ruling scares the hell out of me and it should scare every middle class homeowner in the country. Especially if the live in a city like San Diego where the City Counsel had ran up a huge debt. This will be a great way for them to get out of debt. They will just start selling peoples land off to the rich and gobble up the new tax revenue. What rights are the Supreme Court going to give away next?

Quagmire

June 23rd, 2005 -- Posted in Politics | No Comments »

Today when I got home from work, I turned on the old Fox News Network and the first thing I saw was that clueless Senator from Massachusetts, Ted Kennedy trying to convince Donald Rumsfeld to resign. One of these days the people of Massachusetts are going to see that this guy is totally useless and vote him out, the sooner the better.

It is obvious to me that this man has no clue of what is going on. He makes up his own idea and anyone that does not is a liar or a failure. I have talked to some of the Marines and Sailors that have returned. If the left wing media would start reporting rather than try and sway public opinion there would be a much better understanding of what is going on there.

If we were to do what the Teddy Kennedy’s of the world want we would go ahead and back out leaving the Iraqi’s to fend for themselves, another dictator would take over and the terrorists would see this as a weakness on the part of the United States. We would then open ourselves up to a new round of terrorist attacks on our own soil again.

There is only one thing these folks understand and that is power. I think we should stop messing around and take a left turn into Syria and get those folks under control. If that were done I think a lot of the random violence that is happening over there would start dieing out. Just my 2 cents, but as long as these idiots in the senate and house keep screaming, “It’s a quagmire” the troops will question support at home and the terrorists will gain strength from it.

Sometimes I wonder if the Taliban and Al Queda have infiltrated congress the way these folks talk. And then is is all supposed to be better when they apologize for the moronic statements they made, but the damage was already done.

Anyway that is it for tonight.

More Nuclear Plants

June 22nd, 2005 -- Posted in Technology | No Comments »

This is one thing I am in total agreement with. Nuclear energy is clean for the environment, and with all the advances in technology a lot safer. I know some folks feel it is unsafe but the Navy has been using nuclear reactors on submarines and ships for years without incident.

The United States needs to do something to decrease it’s dependency on foreign energy sources and this is an excellent way to get a good start. Just think of how many polluting power plants that burn coal or gas can be eliminated. Also with nuclear energy you get more bang for the buck.

I know there are some that say we should look at windmills and solar panels. I looked into solar energy a few years back for the house and would have had to replace the roof of my house and cover the entire roof with solar panels to cover half my electricity needs.

I applaud this one and hope they get it pushed through the senate.
